Ditch the Diet Soda

Here are few reasons why sodas (especially diet ones) will absolutely not help you achieve your health goals:

  • pH of 2.5: Sodas are 50,000 times more acidic than neutral. It would require 30 glasses of clean water to balance out just ONE can of soda. Why is this important? All diseases (including cancer) thrive in an acidic environment.

  • High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS): This highly processed sweetener significantly raises insulin levels and has been linked to Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome. Plus, the majority of HFCS is derived from genetically modified corn. (GMO)

  • Aspartame, Splenda: All artificial sweeteners are just that–Artificial. They are the result of a chemical process that produces dangerous neurotoxic compounds. Aspartame has been linked to brain tumors, migraines/headaches, epilepsy/seizures, depression and autoimmune diseases. Sucralose (Splenda) falls into the same category. The company claims it is made from sugar, but they neglect to tell you they alter a sugar molecule and insert chlorine–a dangerous carcinogen (cancer causing agent).  These artificial sugars are addictive and actually cause you to gain weight!

  • Caffeine: Caffeine has a half-life of 6 hours, meaning that it will stay in your body for 12 hours before the effect wears off. Even if you think caffeine doesn’t affect you, it will still alter your sleep cycles and the quality of your sleep. Caffeine is also a diuretic–dehydrating you even though you believe you are ingesting liquids.

Addictions and Intuition

As you know I'm an avid reader! I've been reading a book on detoxing and addictions. Coffee, energy drinks, soda, cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, exercise, food, sugar, wheat/gluten, sex. porn, complaining, blaming, procrastinating...etc.  These things numb us and prevent us from receiving messages from our guides and dull our intuition.  When our bodies and mind are clear from toxins, our brains are sharper, we are focused, full of energy and more creative!! Thus ready to fulfill our life purpose here on Earth!

Some simple steps to take to help release addictions:

Support/Accountability- Therapist, counselor, energy healer, pastor, family, friends.

Ask your angels and the Universe for help- Call upon Archangel Michael and Raphael specifically for addictions.

Rid your home of anything you use to dull the pain, hurt, boredom, or loneliness.

Fuel your body with clean foods. Avoid processed, acidic foods and other toxins.

Drink plenty of pure, filtered water. When we are dehydrated we are more emotional, develop brain fog, which leads to making bad decisions.

Use essential oils. Particularly Geranium and Rose.  Geranium helps regulate your body clock and balances your sleep/wake cycles.  It's calming and uplifting at the same time. It also enhances your self-esteem and confidence.  Rose brings you to a heart-centered space, with your total awareness being focused on love, which is the ultimate healer. The more love you surround yourself with, the more healing energy you will experience.

Detox negative people from your life. Dramatic, draining, and stressful people have no place in your life. These people can dampen your light and overstep boundaries.  If you feel off or uneasy around someone they are usually negatively affecting your energy. Releasing these unhealthy and unbalanced relationships is the healthiest thing you can do.

Jackie's Health Tip of the Week 3/26/17

Fragrance

Synthetic fragrances are really bad news! If the fragrances in your personal care products come from an organic, natural source such as essential oils, it will be indicated on the packaging. If the only reference to fragrances on the label is the word “fragrance,” then you need to put that nasty bottle back on the shelf!

The term “fragrance” in the US allows manufacturers to omit any reference to the list of ingredients that they used to create the fragrance. So if “fragrance” is listed on a label, there’s no telling what the product contains! There are over 3,100 chemicals used by the fragrance industry to formulate these suspiciously delicious aromas, and most of them are not very human-friendly.

You can easily avoid fragrances by making your own natural products!  I am having a Natural Facial Care Making Workshop in April.  CLICK HERE for more details and to RSVP!

Is Your Makeup "Clean"?

Above is a what you are putting on your skin and getting absorbed into your body if you use conventional makeup!  You literally EAT what you put on your skin. Women bombard themselves daily with chemicals and toxins from the moment they wake up to when they lay down in bed at night.  When you look at the ingredient list on your cosmetics and skin care products you should be able to pronounce and identify what each and every ingredient is. If you don't recognize something it is more than likely a chemical.

A few signs and symptoms that are linked to chemical and toxin overload:

*I offer two very affordable detox services including a toxicity assessment where we can pinpoint what toxins you are putting in, on, and around your body.  After your appointment you will walk away less toxic and with a whole list of natural alternatives to use! (I do not sell products, just services, health, and education) :-)  Interested? Please contact me for more information! 712.790.5883 or Jackie@OptimimWellnessMN.com

Liver Cleansing Cocktail

Your liver is your main detoxifying organ, and it can get bogged down from time to time depending on your diet, activity level, and environment. When an overload of toxins becomes too much for your liver to handle, toxic compounds can store within tissues and decrease your quality of health

If you're cleansing your liver, you need to provide your body with nutrition that is easy to digest. You don't want your body to spend its energy digesting food, but you definitely need to keep a good balance of nutrients, electrolytes, and antioxidants to provide support during the detox. Juicing is a powerful way to support the cleansing of your liver without compromising the body’s natural healing process.

Liver Cleansing Juice Cocktail

Ingredients:

3 Organic Carrots
1 Organic Beet
2 Organic Apples
6 Organic Kale Leaves
½ inch of ginger root
½ organic lemon, peeled

Why These Ingredients?

Beets and Carrots

Beets and carrots are extremely high in Vitamin A. Eating these ingredients, along with other plant foods containing similar nutrients, can help stimulate and improve overall liver function.

Apples- I use green apples (Granny Smith) because they are lower in sugar.

High in pectin, apples hold the nutrients necessary for the body to cleanse and release toxins from the digestive tract. This makes it easier for the liver to handle the toxic load during the cleansing process.

Kale

One of our most powerful allies in cleansing the liver, leafy greens such as kale can be eaten raw, cooked, or juiced. Extremely high in plant chlorophylls, greens suck up environmental toxins from the bloodstream. It has the ability to neutralize toxic metals, chemicals, and pesticides.

Ginger Root -I'm allergic to ginger so I leave this out of my recipes but it has amazing health benefits!

Ginger has also been historically used for flatulence, constipation, bloating, and other digestive complaints. Researchers have found ginger to be effective for stress-related ulcers.

Lemons

Citrus fruits, such as lemons, contain very high amounts of vitamin C, which aids the body in converting toxic materials into substances that can be absorbed by water. Drinking freshly-squeezed lemon or lime juice in the morning helps stimulate the liver.

Kitchen Cabinet Clean-Up

I went to a client's house this afternoon and raided her kitchen! Not the typical "raiding" you are thinking of! We purged her cabinets, pantry, refrigerator and freezer of all expired items and toxic, nutrient-deficient and processed foods containing: colorings, preservatives, MSG, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils (trans fat), damaged oils, artificial flavorings, chemicals, GMO's, antibiotics, growth hormones, nitrates, and artificial sugars.  These foods contribute to illness, weight gain, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, inflammation, allergic reactions, and many other health conditions.

Don't worry, I educated her on what staple items she should buy to have on hand in order to make delicious meals for her and her family that promote health and healing!  I took a few photos to show you what we threw out. She is donating the unopened items to the local food pantry!

This is just one of the many services I offer! If you would like more information or would like to schedule a clean-up of your own please contact me. (I am available and will travel to Minnesota and other parts of Iowa)

Sugar Overload?

I had a meeting today at the local rec center in town and there was a group of students there from a neighboring school. Every single teenager had a can of pop, a monster-sized energy drink, or a bottle of juice in their hands. What are we teaching out youth? I wanted to post this image of the sugar content in beverages. Calculate how many teaspoons of sugar you are consuming if you drink 3 bottles of pop a day!! Sugar feeds cancer cells and is a poison to the body; I don't know about you, but I'm sticking with my lemon water and herbal tea!! Read more about the negative health affects of sugar.
