Clean Eating for Kids
Ways to Get Children Involved in Healthy Eating:
Shopping: Visit
farms, Farmer’s Markets, grocery store-show them where real food comes from!
Have them do a scavenger hunt for red, yellow, and green light foods!
Planning: Chart
of meals, new fruit or veggie of the week, chef of the week, have them help you pick out
recipes.
Meal Prep and Clean-Up: Cut up produce, measure ingredients, set table, wash dishes, put away
leftovers, talk about what they liked best about the meal.
Cooking: Stirring,
pouring, and mixing.
Snack Time: Have
them choose- more apt to eat it. Or give 2-3 options so they feel like it
was their decision and choice.
Family Meals: No
distractions, phones, TV, computers, Ipads = true discussions and bonding time. YOU
set the example; you are the healthy role model for your child!
NOTE: It can take up to 20 tastings before someone can start
enjoying a new food, so don’t give up on your picky eaters!
