At War

I know I always write and talk about showing gratitude and being thankful but after traveling this past week I realize I take so many things for granted!!  My own bed, easy access to fresh, organic food/green juice and filtered water, quiet house, nature out my front door, a car (I had to take a cab most places- made me feel trapped!)  And I am typing this as I sit at the Cincinnati Airport since my flight has been delayed....

Overall, I am tired, grumpy and just want to go home but I'm CHOOSING to make the most of my down-time here and reminiscing about everything I enjoyed about my paid work trip! I was able to spend two more days here exploring after the health and wellness festival I worked for a natural company I do promotions for.  I haven't had the opportunity to travel much so saying yes was a no-brainer to venture off to a new place I'd never been!

Always remember: Complaining is being at war against something that has already happened!

Try to go one day without complaining even once and see how your day turns around!

Feeling Blessed

I received this drawing from an amazing woman I met a few years ago. She comes to most of my Self Love Sister's Meetup Group events and now I proudly call her my friend! She completed a project for me I have been dreading (imputing hundreds of contacts and email addresses into my Constant Contact Database) and hid this picture inside the folder. Needless to say once I found it I was instantly in tears! I never equated sheets of names and email address to all the lives I've changed! Proof that what we do for others and how we treat them DOES indeed make an impact! How we approach those around us is vital to leaving our footprint in the world --which reminds me of a quote I love from Maya Angelou:

Takeaway: I know I've said this before but I'm going to say it again. Do your part. Spread joy not hate. Treat others how you would want to be treated. Leave a POSITIVE legacy behind you when you go! #bethelight

10 Ways to Love Yourself

1. Wake up and choose to be happy. (Sometimes I struggle with this myself. March was not a great month for me. I've found out it helps to keep a gratitude journal daily. I use an app on my phone and write in it right before I go to sleep) Gratitude 365 App

2. Exercise. create a schedule each week. Stick to it. Ask your friend to join you. Try a new class. Get outside in the sunshine!

3. Eat. Healthy foods. Every 3 hours so you are not starving and end up binge eating at night when you get home from work. Eat clean, unprocessed foods that give you energy and fuel your body. Break the sugar addiction. There are people that can help! Ask.

4. Set Boundaries. Just because someone wants you to do something doesn't mean you have to do it. Think about how it makes you feel. Self love is about honoring yourself, listening to your body, and knowing what is best for you. It's not being selfish; there is a big difference!

5. Sleep. get 8 hours every night. I know I am an emotional wreck when I'm overly tired and life just seems so much harder! Try to go to sleep at 10:00 PM and wake up at 6:00 AM. Those hours are ideal and allow our body to repair itself both physically and psychologically.

6. Say Affirmations. Here are a few of mine. You can easily make up your own that are more prevalent to you.

"I listen to by body and its needs. I eat foods that are healthy and nourishing to my body and soul. I seek the perfect amount of food to keep my life force high."
"I love myself. I am happy, healthy, and whole."

"I forgive myself. I am made for more. ED (Eating Disorder) no longer rules my life."

"I am enough. I have enough. I do enough. I have everything I need in this moment."

7. Do what you love. You spend most of your life working. Make sure you love what you do! Find out what you life purpose is and roll with it! Your strengths and interests are key!

8. Rest. I've always been a go-getter, perfectionist, over-achiever. I need to constantly remind myself that it's okay to take breaks and do nothing. Life is all about BALANCE.

10. Fill your life with positive, encouraging people!

Body Lovin'

No matter where you are in your current health journey REMEMBER THIS:

As I spend more and more time at the personal training studio here in Minneapolis I am discovering that self love comes in all shapes, sizes, and walks of life. I have never been around as many hard-working and strong men and women in my life! Every person that walks through the door has a story, a loss, a struggle, a challenge to overcome. I've been working out next to clients who give 110% each session! They empower me to hit harder, move faster, and push myself to my own limits!

"It is a haven for real people – with real goals – to come and feel no judgment, no insecurity, and no shame. It’s an energizing escape overflowing with positivity and humility. It’s a place filled with thoughtful trainers and teammates who value individuality, recognize unique needs, and help each other achieve goals and celebrate great results. The environment: No mirrors, just a focus on fitness." - Bodies By Burgoon

I also came across this blog post today. It is a positive and inspirational display of self-confidence, strength, accomplishment, and body lovin'! Please take the time to read it! She is a positive role model and reminds me of all the beautiful souls who train at Bodies By Burgoon!

Words of Wisdom-Weekend Edition

Society can break us. So much negativity and bashing. It pains me to hear about a client's daughter being bullied at school, endless complaints on Facebook about anything and everything, bad attitudes, jealousy, and put-downs. If you want to feel bad about yourself log into any social media website. We tend to compare our lives, jobs, bodies, incomes, houses, cars, and gadgets to our neighbors. The world can be a tough, nasty place! What role do you play in all of this? Are you adding to it or leading people in another direction? Make it your mission to be the light for others. Set the example. Teach your kids to respect and love themselves and others. To do the right thing. Live life in a Godly way. Be honest. Genuine. Be happy for others. Give compliments freely. Be kind. Spread joy. Take a stand. Rise up and be bold-the world needs you!

Please Read if you Are or Plan on Being a Mother

You are a powerful role model for you daughter. Be sure to teach her to love herself unconditionally! Don't go on "diets", trash talk your body in the mirror, or starve yourself! You are the example: eat healthy, exercise, and take care of your own body. She will follow your lead and direction.  Eating disorders are real and anyone can develop one throughout their lifetime. Watch for warning signs! I meant to post this last week for Eating Disorder Awareness Week.

Success-We All Have Different Views

How do I measure success? By the number of lives I've positively impacted!!! :-)

Success to me is living life to the fullest and nurturing relationships (with friends, family, and myself). Trying new things and adventuring out beyond my comfort zone. Taking chances; living freely! And being the best human being possible!

Just wanted to share this with you! How do you measure success?

Negativity-No Room for it Here!!

Negative people are everywhere!! It's amazing how one person can drag down a whole group! It is very infectious. Sometimes I walk into a room and can feel the negative energy. I truly believe attitude is everything and that what you think about you will attract. Are you constantly worrying about not having any money, your crap job, how you hate yourself, feel like a failure, that your life stinks? You have programmed your mind to think negatively and it will spiral out of control! The power of positive thinking is amazing! I've had alot of ironic situtations where I have concentrated on removing my bad thoughts and all sorts of opportunities have come my way!!

Here are a few actions and tips to help you develop the power of positive thinking:

*Always use only positive words while thinking and while talking. Use words such as, 'I can', 'I am able', 'it is possible', 'it can be done', 'I like myself" and etc.

*Try to disregard and ignore negative thoughts. Refuse to think such thoughts, and substitute them with constructive happy thoughts.

*In your conversation use words that evoke feelings and mental images of strength, happiness and success.

*Before starting with any plan or action, visualize clearly in your mind its successful outcome. If you visualize with concentration and faith, you will be amazed at the results.

*Read at least one page of inspiring book every day.

*Watch movies that make you feel happy.

*Minimize the time you listen to the news and read the papers.

*Associate yourself with people who think positively and are happy!

* Write down your life goals in the present tense. For example: I earn X amount of dollars per year, I own X car, I weigh X amount, I live on a house by the ocean...

*Always sit and walk with your back straight. This will strengthen your confidence and inner strength.

*Walk, swim or engage in some other physical activity. This helps to develop a more positive attitude!!

I copied some of my favorite positive affirmations and hung them up on my door. I try to say them before I leave my apartment in the mornings!
