Let It Roll

Let go of control and roll with it! Something I have been working on in my own life as well with love, relationships and my career. When I am being open, honest, and vulnerable is when the real connections are made and life just flows!

Your Environment

Sometimes life takes us back to the very place where we need to look at our challenges in the face in order to heal.  Our environments need to change to make progress in our lives. The environment could be our mind, our surroundings, our diet, living situation, friend's circle, or etc. You MUST work on your environment or life will stay the same. One change every day can lead to so much more!

Lessons to Learn

"Lessons keep getting harder until we learn from them."

I heard this quote and it really hit home.  Sometimes we keep living the same horrendous day over and over and don't learn from our mistakes or make changes.  I know my eating disorder was like that.  I would starve myself the whole day, then binge and purge at night. Then repeat.

We get into habits that are hard to break. Both good and bad habits are ingrained and hardwired into our brains.  Maybe for you it's dating the same type of guy or girl that treats you like crap, ordering more and more stuff you don't need online, avoiding telling you spouse how you really feel, show up to the job you hate every day, and so on...

The pain we endure will continue until we have fully learned our lesson.  It will keep showing up in our lives until we stand up and have enough courage to break the cycle.  All it takes is standing up for yourself TODAY and then doing the same the next day! I think the hardest part of showing up whole-heartedly in life is worrying about making the wrong decision or upsetting others. The only person you should be living for is yourself. Everything is between you and God or the Universe behind closed doors.  If you are not proud of the person you are know you can change and live a completely different life than before! You are not cursed and are strong enough to break the cycle!! I believe in you! <3

Life-Long Learner

I'm ringing in the New Year on a mission to help and impact as many lives as I can!  One of my strengths is teaching and leading others to become the best version of themselves. Failure is an Event

This is a famous quote by the legendary Zig Ziglar! I know I have told my mom and family hundreds of times I "feel like a failure."  I may have messed up a few too many times in life over the years but those are failures, I am not. Don't be so hard on yourself! If you are not failing you are not growing!

Rear-View Mirror Syndrome

This passage is from the book, "Miracle Morning" by Hal Enrod.

"One of the most crippling conditions in life, which we all suffer from, is RVMS—Rear View Mirror Syndrome. We go through our lives, our subconscious minds equipped with a rear view mirror, through which we continuously relive and recreate our past. We mistakenly believe that who we were is who we are, thus limiting our true potential in the present, based on the limitations of our past.
Statistics show that on any given day, the average person thinks somewhere between 50,000 and 60,000 thoughts. The problem is that ninety-five percent of our thoughts are the same as the ones we thought the day before, and the day before that, and the day before that, and so on. It’s no wonder most people go through life, day after day, month after month, and year after year, and the quality of their lives pretty much stays the same.
Like baggage that is old, worn out, useless and more trouble than it’s worth, we carry stress, fear, and worry from yesterday with us into today. When presented with opportunity, we quickly check our rear view mirror to assess our past capabilities. “No, I’ve never done anything like that before. I’ve never achieved at that level. In fact, I’ve failed, time and time again.”
When presented with adversity, we go back to our trusty rear view mirror for guidance on how to respond. “Yep, just my luck. This crap always happens to me. I’m just going to give up; that’s what I’ve always done when things get too difficult.”
If you are to move beyond your past and transcend your limitations, you must stop living out of your rear view mirror and start imagining a life of limitless possibilities. Accept the paradigm: my past does not equal my future. Talk to yourself in a way that inspires confidence that not only is anything possible, but that you are capable and committed to making it so.
Don’t place unnecessary limitations on what you want for your life. Think bigger than you’ve allowed yourself to think up until this point. Get clear on what you truly want, condition the belief that it’s possible by focusing on and affirming it everyday, and then consistently move in the direction of your vision until it becomes your reality. There is nothing to fear, because you cannot fail—only learn and grow.
Remember this truth: Where you are is a result of who you were, but where you go depends entirely on who you choose to be.

Riding Solo

My road trip to Wyoming this last week alone was the furthest I've traveled in a car by myself. (I've only driven 5.5 hours before that) I was both excited and scared and when I got on the road was wondering, "what the hell am I doing?" LOL!   It was just me, the road, and my thoughts for 13 hours.  I was going to fly but opted to drive since gas prices are low. I only spent a total of $135 on gas! Heck yes!  A plane ticket would have been $500+.

A part of me was fearful, yet I knew it would be a fun adventure out of my comfort zone which is why I decided to venture solo across the country! I had a few bumps in the road (my car's AC went out near Edgemont, South Dakota in 100 degree heat) but I managed to figure things out myself. It's not always easy going through life alone but once I looked within and mustered up some courage I realized I am capable of anything!

Fear and Faith

There are a few podcasts I listen to on a daily/weekly basis when I'm in my car. The three hour drives back to Iowa get my wheels turning! Here are a few notes I took while listening this past weekend on my trip back home.

"Fear and faith are in constant battle."

"Transformation happens on the inside. Change happens on the outside."

"Radical leaps of faith please God."

Our ego is constantly fighting to control us. When we accept new challenges and step out on the unbeaten path we are headed towards our life purpose! The unbeaten path is not easy and it's the road where we continually feel the fear of the unknown. That uncomfortable feeling is where fear and faith collide. TRUSTING and BELIEVING things will work out is the hardest part. Living happens when we "feel the fear and do it anyway!"

What Keeps Me Going

Not many more words are needed. I was sent here to be the light for others. This is why I get out of bed each and every day! You also have a life purpose and a special gift to give away! It's your time to shine!

Live a Life Full of Joy

This past week I've been focusing on celebrating the "little things" in my life! Practicing gratitude has been the most important part of my recovery and transition from a divorce, eating disorder, depression, and loneliness to a life full of joy.  When you have something to look forward to it makes life worth living! Every day wake up and be thankful you actually woke up! Each breath you take fuels your very existence.

This week I celebrated many things. Here are a few examples: went snowshoeing in the sun last Sunday, spent time with my parents, booked two Lunch and Learn Corporate Health Talks, bought fresh yellow daisies to brighten up my apartment, received a bonus from a promotional company I work for, paid off my credit card balance, tried a new recipe, got a free car wash with my oil change, scheduled dates with friends, took a nap when I needed to rest and didn't feel guilty about it!

Start keeping a daily list of your celebrations and your mindset will shift from negative to embracing the positive!

10 Life Lessons Learned From Running

Seems fitting today after my 6+ mile run in this amazing Fall weather! I didn't start to enjoy running until college; now it's a form of therapy for me. It allows me to release everything I've been holding inside and really feel in tune with my body!

10 Life Lessons Learned From Running:

1. Beginning is always the hardest part. Push yourself to keep going. It gets easier.

2. Consistency creates habits, and habits create the results to want to achieve.

3. If you want to get better, pain is unavoidable. Don't shy away from it.

4. If you don't get out of your comfort zone, you'll never achieve your goals.

5. People who do things better than you are your teachers, not your competition.

6. Often, thinking you can't go on any longer is a illusion. You often can.

7. Sometimes things don't go as planned. Accept it and move on.

8. When you're going uphill and you want to quit, don’t. Move slower if you have to, but keep going. You will get there.

9. Happiness shouldn't be put on hold until you cross the finish line. Enjoy as much as you can along the way, even when the going gets tough.

10. Don’t let your desire for improvement rob you of pride in small victories!

Make Life Less Complicated

Constantly worrying about what others think about you is like living in a prison cell. Love and accept yourself and focus on your own life, not pleasing others! Once you learn to do this you will set yourself free! Don't make your life more complicated and chaotic than it already may be!

Words of Wisdom-Weekend Edition

Society can break us. So much negativity and bashing. It pains me to hear about a client's daughter being bullied at school, endless complaints on Facebook about anything and everything, bad attitudes, jealousy, and put-downs. If you want to feel bad about yourself log into any social media website. We tend to compare our lives, jobs, bodies, incomes, houses, cars, and gadgets to our neighbors. The world can be a tough, nasty place! What role do you play in all of this? Are you adding to it or leading people in another direction? Make it your mission to be the light for others. Set the example. Teach your kids to respect and love themselves and others. To do the right thing. Live life in a Godly way. Be honest. Genuine. Be happy for others. Give compliments freely. Be kind. Spread joy. Take a stand. Rise up and be bold-the world needs you!

1 Year

Today marks one year exactly since moving back to Iowa. I arrived with $50 in my bank account, an enormous feeling of defeat in many areas of my life and wanted to give up altogether. I was pawning off my belongings in Minneapolis to pay my rent, on a vicious cycle with my eating disorder, depressed, and letting my divorce ruin me. I didn't want to give up but knew if I didn't make some decisions I would be dead before I was 31 years old. I was so stressed out I was making myself sick with worry.

This past year I've made huge progress with loving and taking better care of myself and have helped many others in the process.  I've accomplished things I never thought possible: opened up an office here to run my business, made a few amazing new friends, spent some much needed time with my family, paid off my credit card, inspired others to live a healthy lifestyle and take control of their health, touched hearts, saved lives, and now have money in my bank account from my own hard work and dedication!

Am I 100% fully healed? No, but I will always be a work in progress. I am thankful my family has been here for me. I don't know how many times I came home and have been lucky to give my mom a hug whenever I needed one! I now realize my family loves and cares about me more than I ever thought through a handful of deep life conversations.

I'm writing this to encourage others. Whatever you are currently dealing with, big or small, or what your past looks like, there is still hope! Reach out to those who love you and choose a different path. It may not be easy at first but get up, show up, and work on improving yourself each and every day! We all have a story-this is your life, find your passion, lead by example, love and believe in yourself, and don't let setbacks crush you completely! Radiate your true self, be fearless and take chances! Challenges are what cause growth.  I'm looking forward to my next steps and plan on enjoying the journey! Sending you some love and sunshine today! :-)

Success-We All Have Different Views

How do I measure success? By the number of lives I've positively impacted!!! :-)

Success to me is living life to the fullest and nurturing relationships (with friends, family, and myself). Trying new things and adventuring out beyond my comfort zone. Taking chances; living freely! And being the best human being possible!

Just wanted to share this with you! How do you measure success?

Thriving in Life

This is one of my absolute favorite words: THRIVE. After meeting with a new client yesterday I have attached more meaning to the word.  To truly thrive in life I feel all aspects need to be in sync, whether that be health (physical or mental), relationships (with yourself, family, friends, coworkers, God or a higher being), financially, and etc.

When one thing is out of whack it can affect the rest. Life is "holistic" in nature.  I know I personally have A LOT to work on but know I feel the best when I am helping and impacting other peoples' lives! I literally feel on top of the world after meeting with clients, giving presentations, events and so forth.  Once you realize your life purpose is when everything seems to come together. The love will overflow, your bank account with be busting at the seams, and you wake up every day happy and ready to make the best of it!

I came across this on Facebook a few days ago and it really resonates with me and the type of person I am. It has been one of my biggest challenges in life. To put myself first and realize I cannot help every single person that crosses my path as much as I would like to. This has caused some major disruption because of my lack of asking for help when I greatly need it!

"If you're an earth Angel, you are obsessed with other people’s happiness. If anyone you love is unhappy, you become upset. You may blame yourself for his or her ...unhappiness, which creates the earth Angel cycle of codependency, where your happiness is dependent upon another’s. And since you cannot control others’ happiness, you feel unable to predict or control your own, as it’s contingent upon someone else.

Earth Angels are usually “conflict-phobic,” meaning that they fear arguments and confrontations. Angry people are the opposite of happy people to an earth Angel. So if faced with such an individual, Earth Angels will shut down and usually comply with the other person’s wishes, feeling at fault if someone is unhappy or angry. They are convinced they have failed in their mission to bring happiness to others. As a result, earth Angels will do practically anything to keep the peace!

Their conflict phobia makes earth Angels targets for manipulative people who take advantage of others’ niceness. Before they learn their earthly lesson about holding boundaries, Earth Angels usually fall under the spell of narcissistic individuals who only care about their own needs.

Earth Angels find themselves in a bind because their life purpose is to bring peace to the world. They are lights sent from heaven to shine peace and happiness and lift others’ consciousness and vibrations—so they’re usually the world’s kindest, nicest, and gentlest people! In fact, they pride themselves on being sweet in the roughest of situations (although Earth Angels do lose their tempers when pushed to their limit).

Earth Angels view themselves as tough, even though they are highly sensitive. They shoulder other people’s burdens and rarely ask for help. If help is offered, they will not accept it. They are afraid of “bothering” anyone."

Maybe you are like this too but I want you to know there are so many people that will help and guide you on your journey.  Take time each day to take small steps to get everything in your life in sync and functioning and pretty soon you will THRIVE!

Be Well!

Strength

Tonight I'm feeling inspired! Had a good day and realize I was put here for many reasons. I feel amazing when I am helping and listening to others! The best thing about working with clients is seeing the smile on their face once they step out of my office! Sometimes they come in and unload on me but I'm known for making people laugh! We all have strengths, you just need to find yours and share it! Strength is a dynamic word. Can be physical, mental, or emotional. Some synonyms for strength are: power, might, energy, force.

I encourage you to make a list of your strengths and do something every day to use them.  No one likes failing, so instead of focusing on fixing your weaknesses, why not strengthen the attributes you already have mastered and teach them to others? In order to figure out what your strengths are, ask yourself these questions:

-What are you doing when "time flies by?"
-What do others say you do well?
-What do people come to you for advice for?
-What makes you happy and warms your heart?
-If you could do anything with your life and money was not a factor, what would you do?

Just some things to think about that will steer you in the right direction and your purpose in life!
 :-)

Be Well!
