Transitions

I've always been the type of person that will try anything once! But you have to be if you are an entrepreneur! If something isn't working you need to re-evaluate and do something different! Not everyone understands me or the way I choose to live my life.  You may be going through some of your own transitions, struggles, or challenges.  Maybe your family thinks you are crazy for choosing your passion over a higher-paying job, your sister doesn't think you are raising your kids right, or your so called "friends" think your new business venture is unreasonable?  Keep in mind all that really matters is that YOU are happy!

The world always has something to say about how we should live our lives. What we should eat, what to wear, where to attend college, what career to choose, how to wear our hair, what to purchase: large homes, expensive vehicles, latest technology, extravagant vacations, name brand clothes, and etc.

Try to shut out all the noise and think about what you want your life to look like.  Do NOT let others persuade you into doing something you don't feel is right in your heart.  Every day you can chose to be a different person than you were the day before.  It's your call-do what's best for YOU!

*I will be going through my own transition starting in September.  City life and country living mix here I come!

Be Who You Are

If I've learned anything these past two weeks it's that no matter what you do you cannot please everyone.  My Dad and I have been butting heads and it seems as though whatever I do in life it has never been the right path he thinks I should be on.  I am constantly compared to my younger sister and it's painful.  I was a straight-A student, had many friends, and excelled in everything I did.  Shy girl turned successful college student with a kind heart! The paths I've chosen after college haven't been the easiest but they have been the most rewarding and have shaped me into the woman I am today.

I have felt fear and had my ego screaming in my ear but continue on. Life isn't about pleasing those around you. It's about taking challenging steps each day, learning, growing, and doing what God has put on your heart.  I've been told many times (by my Dad and others) to go, "get a real job." I've lived that life in the past.  Answering to someone else, living on their terms, punching in and out. The conventional way has never been my forte. One thing I do know is if you live your life trying to make others happy you will be miserable.  You are capable of making your own decisions and living a different life from the one others want you to lead!  Be brave and keep going!!

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday! What are you grateful for?

As I drive back home to Iowa each week from Minneapolis I reflect on all the reasons why make the decisions I do. I’ve always been one to follow my heart instead of my head. The older I get the more I live in the present moment. What was important to me in previous years means nothing now.

I’ve been living a life I thought I was supposed to live instead of a life I wanted. What I really want is more freedom, love and hugs from my family, a full nights sleep, and to not have to push myself to DO more and prove to the world I’m worthy and successful. Life is slower paced and it’s exactly what I needed. The best compliment came from my mom a few weeks ago: “Jackie, you are much more calm, actually listen, seem less stressed, and act like a person again! ” That’s when you know you made the correct choice.

Takeaway- Stop trying to be what the world tells you to be and start living on your own terms! Design a life YOU love and don’t take grief from all the people who want you to fail. They were never true supporters of you anyway!!

End of the Day

At the end of each day ask yourself these three questions as you lay your head on your pillow:

1. Did I live?
2. Did I love?
3. Did I matter?

Rate yourself from a 1-10 scale for each question.  If it is less than a five re-evaluate what you can do to make it a 10 tomorrow!

This is what life is about! Not just "getting through" each day or working for the weekends! Live each day with a purpose and intention!

Too Busy?

Ran across this quote and wanted to share.  I re-read it over and over and it's true! We always answer everything with, "I've been really 'busy'."  But what are you "busy" doing?  Let's change the way we think and act. Why not do things that make us happy?!?!  I would love to hear your thoughts on this! Please leave a comment below.

Discounts

Giving and receiving is an energy exchange. This applies to compliments as well. Saying thank you after someone says something nice about you is you receiving and accepting their kind words. Money is also an energy exchange. Don't short yourself by giving out everything for free.

Do not charge less than what you are worth in business. Doing things for free blocks the natural movement of energy and may prevent you from accepting opportunities where you are compensated for your value. People are more apt to associate higher value with products or services they purchase. This also applies to relationships, friendships, and marriages.

When you love yourself and know your worth you will not accept anything less! Let the abundance flow!

Live

What our response should be when we are asked this question! Too often we forget that our life is now, not 10 years from now, not after we retire, or only live our life after 5:00 PM. Stir up some passion in your life so when you go to bed at night and review your day you know you spent every last second living and doing what you enjoy!

Jackie's Health Tip of the Week 10/30/16

If you find yourself feeling anxious, jumpy, and panicky mid-afternoon, or lethargic, uncomfortable and sluggish, it could be your lunch stressing you out, rather than your job!

*Don't rush your lunch. The faster you eat, the more likely you are to swallow air, which can cause wind, bloating and abdominal pain. People often swallow too much air as a reaction to stress. Try to sit quietly during and after lunch (preferably away from your desk!) A huge amount of blood - 40 percent of your blood supply - passes through the digestive system after a meal, allowing the nourishment to be absorbed and distributed throughout the body. You shouldn't even shop, let alone exercise, after eating because activity will divert most of the blood from the digestive system to help muscles perform.

You Can Do Anything, But Not Everything

I was catching up on some of my podcasts today on my drive home from hiking up north and one in particular made me think about my life. It felt good to get away even for a day and just relax and spend time in nature. I tend to overbook and over-work myself every week because of my crazy drive, passion, and perfectionist tendencies. There are times when I burn out and it shows in my work and in my relationships with others. I know I need to work more on my self-care and I bet you do too!

THREE WAYS TO PRIORITIZE SELF-CARE:
Cut back.
Cut down.
Cut it out.

Cut back – on over-committing (reduce how often you say “yes”), on social media or news overload (slow down, disconnect from the buzz of the world), reduce your sugar and processed foods intake (all action things / decisions that require action).
Cut down –reduce your expectation of performance (get away from perfectionist mentality…learn to know when good enough is good enough), on idealized daily to-do list for your life, on mental laziness (negativity, etc.) (thoughts, decisions that take space in your mind).
Cut it out – stop thinking you are the only person who can help others, stop putting your sleep at the bottom of your priority list, stop putting yourself and your self-care last.

Fear and Faith

There are a few podcasts I listen to on a daily/weekly basis when I'm in my car. The three hour drives back to Iowa get my wheels turning! Here are a few notes I took while listening this past weekend on my trip back home.

"Fear and faith are in constant battle."

"Transformation happens on the inside. Change happens on the outside."

"Radical leaps of faith please God."

Our ego is constantly fighting to control us. When we accept new challenges and step out on the unbeaten path we are headed towards our life purpose! The unbeaten path is not easy and it's the road where we continually feel the fear of the unknown. That uncomfortable feeling is where fear and faith collide. TRUSTING and BELIEVING things will work out is the hardest part. Living happens when we "feel the fear and do it anyway!"

Fresh Start

Year end is a time to reflect on the previous year and what we would like to change or do different in the New Year. New starts are always refreshing!! New goals will be set and everyone looks forward to the events that will take place.

What are your goals and resolutions? I would suggest adding something to your life rather than taking it away. Picture what you want your life to look like and focus on it every day!!

This past year I have realized how truly wonderful my family and friends are!! They love me unconditionally even though I have gone through a lot of difficult situations the past few years. I am stubborn and can be a pain in the behind, yet they stick by my side no matter what! I am very blessed to have such amazing people in my life!! I have pushed a lot of my loved ones away over the years when life was tough. I never knew how much I have been hurting them by being distant. So, this coming year I would like to work on improving and nurturing these relationships that have dwindled and spend more time being a human "being" instead of a human "doing"! I sense some fun trips and quality time in 2016!

Wishing you a safe, happy, and healthy NEW YEAR!!

Be well!

Be Free

I'm feeling relaxed and joyous tonight. I've had more free time to be a human "being" and not a human "doing." Taking one day at a time and truly living in the moment is so freeing! I'm focusing more on myself and my visions and listening to my angels who are leading me towards my soul's purpose. Sometimes all we need to do is take some time off, unwind, let go of our expectations of ourselves, and listen. We get so caught up in our "to-do" lists and routines that we forget what we are put here on Earth for. The time is now. Breathe. Be.

Chill

I've been enjoying a few days off. It has been nice not having to wake up and rush out the door! I have always been an overachiever and push myself to the limits! Some days I feel like I do not breathe! LOL! So much to do and so little time. My bucket list and goals are massive and I have really high expectations. I'm sure many of you can relate!

CHILL seems like a fitting word today. I'm doing my laundry, cleaning a little, heading out for a run, going to the gym, and then scheduled an hour massage! Finally using the gift card I recieved  2 years ago.... Can you tell I usually never relax? ;-)  This break is very much needed for my sanity! Summer has been nuts and I am feeling lighter and more centered knowing I do not HAVE to do anything today! The reality is we DO have a choice. I am busy because I choose to be. I work all the time because I choose to. I exercise because I choose to. I eat healthy because I choose to. Every decision is ours. Let me repeat that. EVERY decision is ours. Take control of your choices-Take back control of your life! You will much happier! Trust me! :-)

The 3:00 PM Wall-Increase Energy

Commonly Asked Question: I have low energy and feel fatigued all the time, what would help?

B-Vitamins- These are the vitamins that get depleted first when stressed.

B-Vitamin rich foods: spinach, parsley, broccoli, beets, turnips, mustard greens, asparagus, romaine lettuce, lentils, bell peppers, turnip greens, almonds, brussel sprouts, oranges, eggs, fish, sunflower seeds, beans.

Vitamin D3- have you ever gotten yours checked? Simple blood test you can ask for at the doctor's office. Most people are on the low end especially if they do not supplement! (I offer Vitamin D testing as a service. Please contact me for more information)

Juice-Cleanses body and gives your digestive system a break! Nutrients get absorbed right away giving you a burst of energy.

Greens Powder-helps alkalize the body. Usually contains wheat grass, alfalfa, spirulina, chlorella, barley grass, spinach, broccoli.

Exercise-Get your blood and body moving! Interval Training is one of the best types of workouts to do. Other names for interval training: Tabata, BURST, HIIT, Crossfit, Kosama etc.

Green/Herbal Teas-Green tea contains natural caffeine and contains the amino acid, L-theanine, which increases alertness. With L-theanine working to increase mental energy and caffeine also working to increase energy, the result is a steady, clear state of increased energy without the jittery side-effects.

English Breakfast Teas-use as an alternative to coffee in the mornings!

Eat every 3-4 hours stabilizes blood sugar levels. Your energy will be even kill all day long if you eat protein, a veggie, and a healthy fat every time you eat! Ditch the sugars!

Drink more water-you are probably dehydrated if you are not drinking half your bodyweight in ounces of water each day!

Take a technology break-computers, cell phones, and electronic devices zap our energy! Try going on a camping trip or turning off your phone and computer at night. Read a book! (preferably a real physical book and not one on a Kindle or Nook)

Take a walk- great for getting fresh air and taking a mental break! Nature is very therapeutic and grounding!

1 Year

Today marks one year exactly since moving back to Iowa. I arrived with $50 in my bank account, an enormous feeling of defeat in many areas of my life and wanted to give up altogether. I was pawning off my belongings in Minneapolis to pay my rent, on a vicious cycle with my eating disorder, depressed, and letting my divorce ruin me. I didn't want to give up but knew if I didn't make some decisions I would be dead before I was 31 years old. I was so stressed out I was making myself sick with worry.

This past year I've made huge progress with loving and taking better care of myself and have helped many others in the process.  I've accomplished things I never thought possible: opened up an office here to run my business, made a few amazing new friends, spent some much needed time with my family, paid off my credit card, inspired others to live a healthy lifestyle and take control of their health, touched hearts, saved lives, and now have money in my bank account from my own hard work and dedication!

Am I 100% fully healed? No, but I will always be a work in progress. I am thankful my family has been here for me. I don't know how many times I came home and have been lucky to give my mom a hug whenever I needed one! I now realize my family loves and cares about me more than I ever thought through a handful of deep life conversations.

I'm writing this to encourage others. Whatever you are currently dealing with, big or small, or what your past looks like, there is still hope! Reach out to those who love you and choose a different path. It may not be easy at first but get up, show up, and work on improving yourself each and every day! We all have a story-this is your life, find your passion, lead by example, love and believe in yourself, and don't let setbacks crush you completely! Radiate your true self, be fearless and take chances! Challenges are what cause growth.  I'm looking forward to my next steps and plan on enjoying the journey! Sending you some love and sunshine today! :-)
