We are all Beautiful. Changing the world-Join the Mission

We all have our own demons. Mine has been deep rooted for many years now and I'm not afraid to admit my weakness. I've struggled for almost 10 years with truly loving myself. I'm a perfectionist and have constantly put myself down. It's been a battle of Jackie vs. her mind. Even though I never judge and accept everyone I struggle with negative self-talk the most. This is something I will be committed to changing starting NOW!!

I have met many females in my life that do not realize how truly beautiful and amazing they really are!! We seem to be more concerned with outer beauty than inner. There is a difference between "pretty" and "beautiful!" I have always been a giver and try my best to instill warmth, love, hope, and positive energy into the women who need it the most! I came across this website (http://www.operationbeautiful.com/) and have hopped on board their mission by leaving random messages in hope that I touch someones' heart! :) Here are a few that I have posted!

Green Foods-Perfect for St. Patrick's Day!

With St. Patrick's Day just around the corner green has been on my mind!! Green foods are an essential part of a healthy diet!

Here are some of my favorites:

Kiwi-According to the California Kiwifruit Commission, this fuzzy green fruit provides 230 percent of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C (almost twice that of an orange), more potassium than a banana, and 10 percent of the recommended daily allowances of vitamin E and folate. It’s also a good source of fiber!!

Kale-Belongs to the powerhouse family of greens known as cruciferous veggies (a fancy word for the cabbage family). All cruciferous vegetables contain cancer-fighting plant compounds and vitamin C. Kale in particular also has bone-boosting vitamin K, vision- and immune-boosting vitamin A.

Green Tea- Has potent antioxidants; it has been linked to a lower risk of heart disease, certain cancers, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, and more, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Spinach-Spinach doesn’t just make you big & strong like Popeye, it also gives improves overall bone health thanks to the large amount of vitamin K. Spinach is also a brain food, enhancing nervous system health and improving brain functions. AND it contains over 600% of your daily value of vitamin A in one bunch!

Asparagus-This springtime vegetable is rich in vitamins K, C, A, and folate; it also has a number of anti-inflammatory nutrients. Asparagus is famous for a healthy dose of inulin — a “prebiotic” that promotes digestive health — and is high in fiber (about 3 grams per cup) and protein (4 to 5 grams per cup). Fun fact: Asparagus’s amino acid called asparagine, which helps cleanse the body of waste, is responsible for the odd-smelling urine some people experience after eating it.

Basil- is a good source of vitamin K and iron; fresh basil leaves have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Snip some leaves into salads, pasta, or any Italian dish. I LOVE PESTO!!!

Effective People-Self Improvement

Seven Habits of Highly Effective People

1) taking personal responsibility and initiative,
2) getting clear about what's important to you and setting goals,
3) putting those priorities first and being disciplined,
4) seeking mutual benefit in all interactions with others -- the golden rule,
5) seeking to understand others from their perspective first before making your point,
6) valuing differences and creating third-alternative solutions to problems that are better than "my way" or "your way," and
7) taking care of and renewing yourself in all four areas of life -- body, mind, heart and spirit.
-- Stephen R. Covey

After reading these habits I went back and looked at some of my life goals I had written. I am realizing I need to work on renewing myself in my body, mind, heart, and spirit. I started doing yoga again this past week and have noticed a difference already in my anxiety levels! I also made a list of ways I could practice "self love" and wrote them on index cards. I plan on picking one out of the pile when I am having a stressful or emotional day!! Another goal was to reconnect with friends and family each week whether it is a text, letter, card, email, or call on my way home from work! It's incredible how much this lifts my spirit!! :) What are you doing each day in order to become an effective person? Remember to look at all aspects of your life! We grow and learn each day! I know I am always looking for ways to become a better person!!

Alkalize Your Diet-Restore Your Health

Too Much Acid in Your Body Can Cause Health Problems!

Most people do not feel any where near as good as they could. The vast majority of people believe that their lack of energy and health is just part of the aging process.

The funny thing is, so many people have nagging health problems. They don't have a clue. And that really makes sense when you consider the types of foods they are eating day-to-day, and the dangerous, often toxic, medications they have used throughout life.

For many years mainstream medicine ignored the role that diet can play in both health and disease. More recently it began emphasizing the need to eat healthier foods to keep illness at bay.

One of the most exciting discoveries has been the effect some foods have on the body’s acid-alkaline pH levels when digested.

Regardless of how much you work out and try to eat right, if you cannot balance the acids in your body, you will never feel as good as you’d like to be.

The problem is, on a whole, the average western diet is acid-producing. And when acidic wastes accumulate, they can cause organs to malfunction and break down.
This creates a breeding ground for various forms of chronic illness that are now experienced by more than half the population.

If you often feel tired, it is a safe bet that you are overly acidic. The solution is to counter acidity with alkaline foods!!!

**pH Testing is one of the services I offer at my office. It's a simple saliva test. Only $10. Contact me for more details!

Here is a great chart that shows which foods are more alkaline and the acid foods to avoid:
