Jackie's Health Tip of the Week 9/11/16

Save money by cooking your own beans, peas and lentils!  You can buy a whole bag of dried beans, peas, and lentils, and cook up what you need. Or, you can spend twice the money to get them canned. Cooking them yourself just requires a little advance planning, since you need to soak them overnight or put them in a slow cooker. Canned food usually contains way more sodium than we want or need! I really found this page from Whole Foods helpful. It breaks down all sorts of different types of beans and explains how to prepare and cook them.

Healthy Eating and Weight Loss

People try all the “fad diets” and either give up or gain all the weight back. Weight loss is about eating whole, unprocessed foods and committing to a healthy lifestyle. Most “diet foods” are loaded with chemicals, additives, are devoid of nutrients, and actually make you gain more weight! We will go over the Three Powerful Principles of Nutrition and how to feed your body what it needs in order to look great on the outside and promote healing on the inside!

Gluten-Free-Too Expensive?

This is a typical "Gluten-Free" aisle in a grocery store. As you can see all of the food is processed and in a box, bag, or a can. (Dead Food)  Fruits, vegetables, meat, nuts, beans, seeds, and fish are naturally gluten free! Eat clean and you will not have to spend $6.00 on a box of gluten-free cereal, crackers, bread, or cookies! Just a tip! ;-)

What do you mean by "clean eating?" CLICK HERE for more information or schedule a wellness consultation with me and I will lead you in the right direction! 712.790.5883
